The main Mellasat label is represented through the flagship blend Mellasat “M” and is joined by the premium White Pinotage, made in a very unique style and the classical barrel fermented Chardonnay. The Tempranillo and the Viognier form part of "Premium " collection under this range due to the small volumes of these wines made.

Mellasat M Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

This wine reflects the aged mobility of Cabernet Sauvignon. Matured in French oak barriques and in bottle for up to five years before release, culminating in a wine that is structured, well balanced and time honoured. Your enjoyment of it is our pleasure.

Mellasat Viognier 2017

Viognier vines as a variety are traditionally grown on decomposed granite soils. These Viognier grapes were picked at optimum ripeness, and the resultant wine is barrel fermented and matured for eight months. This wine has prominent floral notes of orange blossom on the nose that leads through to peach and apricot flavours on the palate. The wine can also be enjoyed by itself now or cellared for mature drinking.

Mellasat Viognier 2018

2018 vintage is  carefully wooded to retain varietal character while adding layers of complexity. Soft acidity on stonefruit finish.

Spice & violet accents, core of cherry & blackberry fruit, laced with savoury acidity, supported by smooth tannins. Oak gives vanilla on persistent finish.

Mellasat Chardonnay 2019

“A classic barrel fermented wine made from this noble variety. Further maturation in French oak barrels for eleven months together with batonnage (lees stirring) gives this wine a suppleness on the palate balanced with citrus zest and almondine brioche. This wine can be enjoyed now or aged further if required.”

Mellasat White Pinotage 2018

The world’s first White Pinotage “The paradox of this wine is that the eye belies the other senses! Making white wine from red grapes using South Africa’s unique Pinotage grape. Whole bunch pressing prevented the juice from obtaining colour from the skins. Barrel fermented and matured for eleven months with lees stirring gives this wine a slightly creamy, nutty character to balance the tropical fruit and banana flavours.”

Mellasat Chardonnay 2017

Usual light brush of (old French) wood gives rich citrus & melon fruit flavours free rein, some roasted pine nuts & subtle oak notes a pleasing backdrop, orange peel on exit in abeyance.

Mellasat Tempranillo 2017 -  SOLD OUT

This wine was matured in new American oak (Toneleria Nacional Odyse-300li barrels) 40% first fill and 50% older French oak (300li) barrels for 22 months, with the nose giving a cigar box aroma leading to marinated cherry and autumn blackberry on the palate. It has a long finish and a balanced backbone of tannin and structure. It is expected this wine will continue to develop for several years to come.
