"Spring" Pop-Up Restaurant

Our inaugural Pop-up Seasonal restaurant was a great success with good bookings, wonderful comments and relaxed diners! The "Spring" themed menu held over the weekend of 2nd & 3rd November produced some varied seasonal dishes from fresh asparagus with quail egg, fresh pea soup and local salmon trout to spring lamb cutlets and a trio of duck. Amuse bouche and palate cleansers punctuated this fine dining fare and was rounded off with Ying and Yang of chocolate mousse or panacotta with fresh mulberries and chocolate soil. Chef Janet Richardson and her team worked hard to ensure that the fresh, local and seasonal ingredients were prepared to perfection, many of which were from our own garden!

The next pop-up will be "Summer" to be held on Saturday 1st (lunch & dinner) and Sunday 2nd (lunch only) in February 2014. With many customers willing to join us again the bookings are bound to be keen, so ensure your place is reserved by calling us on 021 862 4525 or email tanya @mellasat.com

Introducing the new “Premium Exclusive” Collection

Our new barrel fermented Mellasat Viognier 2012 is wonderfully characteristic of this Rhone variety and exudes peaches and apricots with a creamy texture. As much of the volume has already been sold en-primeur to the European trade we have very limited stock available which has been reserved for club members only on a quota basis, there will be no public sales of this vintage! The good news is that the 2013 vintage is likely to be released early in the new year to compensate for this.

Also on the same day our first Mellasat Tempranillo/Cabernet Sauvignon was released from the 2011 vintage. Matured in barrel for 18 months then in bottle for 12 months this is a well balanced red made from this Spanish grape variety. Cherry and blackberry highlight the flavours in this distinct wine but with sufficient tannin structure to enable this wine to age gracefully.
