Holiday season at Mellasat Vineyards
This holiday season Mellasat Vineyards is offering a variety of tastings, platters and picnics. Start off with a tasting then enjoy the serenity of our beautiful gardens with a Cheese & Charcuterie Platter or a Gourmet Picnic.
Our Cheese & Charcuterie Platter starts from R130 for two people excluding the tasting and a glass of wine. Our wine by the glass prices start from R20 per glass.
If you feel like something more substantial, then book our Gourmet Picnic basket for two, which is R279 and it includes a glass of wine each from either our Mellasat or Dekker's Valley Ranges. Sit in our garden on a blanket, or at one of our picnic tables, and enjoy the scenery and our hospitality.
We also offer our Cellarmaster's Reserve Tasting in our cool underground cellar. This tasting is R100 per person and we have chosen five wines, each paired with a snack, to show how versatile our wines are.
To book any of these, please contact us on 021 862 4525 or send us an email to email@example.com
Vineyard and cellar news
It is an exciting time of the year for any winery, especially in the vineyard! Veraison is slowly starting and is very visible on the Pinotage and Tempranillo grapes. What is veraison? It is a French term – véraison - and the official definition is ‘change of colour of the grape berries’. It is now a term that is generally adapted in English.

During December, we were busy in the barrel cellar. We racked our 2017 red wines off the full lees from barrel to barrel and now the maturation period started. Even though 2017 was a challenging vintage due to the drought conditions, the red wines taste great. There is a lot of depth and complexity on all of them.
We’ve now bottled the 2017 Seraphic, 2017 Shiraz Rosè and the 2015 Shiraz. We also hand-bottled our first MCC, which is now going through secondary fermentation in the bottle. We expect to release the MCC in 2019. Watch this space …
